Pinecrest Reaches the Community

The King's Provision volunteers at the July outreach at Pinecrest

Through outreach programs such as our Food Pantry and The King’s Provision, Pinecrest is making a difference in the community.

The Pinecrest Food Pantry has been operating since 2003, but when Chris Tringali became Food Services Manager in November, he recognized its outreach potential and began to seek state and federal funding to expand the program. Since then, the Food Pantry has served an average of 1,000 meals each month to low-income local families and continues to grow.

In addition to offering food, Chris also uses the Food Pantry as an opportunity to share the gospel and to give out Bibles. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to be a testimony of Jesus Christ, not only in actions, but in distributing the Word of God to the people who come in,” Chris comments.

The King’s Provision, an outreach of Pinecrest Christian Fellowship, was birthed in prayer as a response to a word to “feed My sheep.” Church members partnered with Compassion Coalition, which provides food and related items to over 100 member agencies who serve the poor, underemployed, and neglected throughout New York State. Since August 2006, The King’s Provision has offered free food, paper products, and household items monthly at local churches.

The King’s Provision volunteer Joe Stocking relates that families line up well before the 10:00 a.m. start time and estimates that the outreach reaches 100-200 people or more each month.
